We are always interested in receiving unsolicited manuscripts of any kind but at the moment we are not publishing poetry, works for children, novellas or short story collections by a single author. We only publish full length books (usually between 60,000 and 120,000 words), so please don't send us single short stories or poems.
In adult fiction we are open to all genres and would be interested to find more literary, crime and fantasy titles, among others.
However whatever kind of work you are sending please ensure that you meet our criteria BEFORE sending it to us.
When submitting your manuscript, in the first instance please send us a synopsis and the first 50 pages, double spaced on one side of A4. Please send the beginning 50 pages not a section from later in the book.
Please send your submission to us by post please, not email. Send it to: Commissioning Editor, Honno, Unit 14, Creative Units, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, SY23 3GL.
We are keen to find work that shows all sides of life in Wales, but will consider stories not set in Wales as well. We are a feminist publisher and that influences the kinds of work we select.
Please note that all manuscripts are considered individually which takes time. We aim to give a reply within six months of receipt however during very busy periods this may take longer. We appreciate your patience while we consider your work.
If you wish to receive an acknowledgement that your manuscript has been received please enclose a stamped, addressed postcard with your manuscript. And of course, if you would like your manuscript returned to you, please also enclose a stamped addressed envelope of
the right size and postage.
We are unfortunately unable to provide feedback on individual manuscripts due to lack of resources. However, both the Welsh Books Council and Literature Wales offer mentoring and critical services for a small fee. See the links below for more details of these.
