Marianne Jones

Marianne Jones grew up on Anglesey. After graduating from university she taught English at a Japanese university. Before moving to Tokyo she lived in an area where no foreigner had ever lived before. She learned Japanese and helped to translate Contemporary Japanese Literature, which was published in 1972. She has also lived in Canada and taught English there. After returning to Britain she taught English as a second language, did a second MA and took up the post of Project Manager of the Japanese in Schools programme for the Welsh Office. After this she became Co-ordinator of the Japanese Resources Centre for Derbyshire County Council. She now lives on Anglesey with her husband. She has taught Japanese and Creative Writing there and is currently writing poetry and short stories.
